She is also a co-founder of the Peace Alliance, a non-profit educational and advocacy organization that supports peace-building projects. She received national attention for her frequent appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show and known as Oprah's "spiritual mentor". In 2014, Williamson unsuccessfully ran as an Independent to represent California's 33rd Congressional District in the US House of Representatives.
